The Sunset Empire Transportation District (SETD) was formed by the Clatsop County Board of Commissioners on March 24, 1993. The District has been providing transportation in Clatsop County ever since and is located in the northwest corner of the state of Oregon along the coast. SETD encompasses the entire county covering approximately 840 square miles and serving over 37,000 citizens.
Fixed Route Ridership currently averages over 3,500 rides per week. SETD uses bio-diesel in most of its equipment, offers recycling at its downtown transit center and encourages people to be good stewards of their environment by riding the bus.
SETD provides fixed route and paratransit services throughout selected areas of Clatsop County with connecting service to Tillamook County to the south, Pacific County (Washington) to the north and Columbia County to the east. All services are open to the general public. Routes operate within and connect between the five incorporated cities (Astoria, Warrenton, Gearhart, Seaside and Cannon Beach) and service along the Highway 101 and Highway 30 corridors. Fixed route services operate 7 days a week. Fares range from $1.00 to $4.00 within Clatsop County. Fixed route services are not operated on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Complementary Paratransit services are offered to ADA eligible passengers.
SETD also operates the RIDECARE non-emergent medical transportation brokerage. The brokerage is responsible for scheduling rides for Medicaid eligible clients to eligible appointments in Clatsop, Columbia and Tillamook counties. Hours of operations are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The SETD transit center located at 900 Marine Drive Astoria Oregon. The transit center offers ticket sales, transportation information, short term public parking, Park and Ride services, bike locker rentals, public restrooms and is open 7 days a week 7:30 am to 6 pm (lobby and restrooms open at 7 am). SETD also operates the Transit Kiosk located at the Outlet Mall in Seaside. It offers ticket sales and transportation information and is open Thursday through Monday 9 am to 6 pm.
