Getting to NW Oregon

Once you’ve reached Kelso, Portland, Salem, Corvallis, or Albany, the NW Connector is your ticket to the Oregon Coast. Find out below how to ride to the coast from each city along I-5.

Portland

From Portland, you can travel along the scenic Columbia River via the Lower Columbia Connector, operated jointly by Columbia County Rider and Sunset Empire Transportation District. Reaching Astoria in just 3 hours, you’ll be ready to “start at the top” of your Oregon Coast vacation.

If you want to jump right into the heart of the coast, Tillamook County Transportation District also operates the Route 5, traveling direct to Tillamook.

All routes running to Portland travel to Union Station, where they connect with Amtrak, Oregon POINT, Greyhound, and TriMet.

Flying into Portland? Take TriMet to Sunset Transit Center in Cedar Hills to catch a bus. You can travel from Tokyo to Tillamook without a car!

Salem

Every weekend day, the Tillamook Route 6 travels to the Salem Amtrak station and Tillamook, morning, afternoon, and evening.

Corvallis and Albany

Lincoln County Transportation and Benton County Transportation work together to provide service from Corvallis and Albany into Newport on the Coast to Valley Express. Connections direct from the Corvallis Transit Center, as well as Albany Amtrak on trips operated by Benton County Transportation.

Oregon POINT

The Oregon POINT service both provides a connection to Portland, Salem, and Albany, and an alternate way to get to the heart of the Oregon coast. Check out the NorthWest POINT service direct from Portland to Cannon Beach.
