Sunset Empire Transportation District’s Board of Commissioners approved the appointment of Pamela Alegria to the District Board at their January 20th meeting. Pamela filled the District’s Commissioner #4 vacancy that had been held by Paul Lewicki since 2011. Commissioner Lewicki resigned from the position in December. Pamela comes to the SETD Board as a life time transit user and supporter of public transportation. Pamela has a Master’s degree in urban and regional planning. She was a planner for the Oregon Department of Transportation analyzing development proposals for compliance issues and was also a planner for the City of Warrenton. As a member of several citizens’ advisory groups in Portland she worked with Tri-Met, Metro, Multnomah County and Clackamas County to develop policies on city, regional and state plans: Clackamas Counties’ Street Design Guidelines, Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, Transportation Planning Rule for Portland, Clackamas and Washington Counties as well as Metro, Belmont-Morrison Decouple Project, North Macadam District and the Belmont/Morrison Plan. Pamela has also assisted Board members of the Lower Columbia Preservation Society and the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition with strategies and budgets to accomplish their missions. The District’s Commissioner #4 Position will expire on June 30, 2017 making this position open for the May 2017 Special District’s elections.
