Sunset Empire Transportation District (SETD) has announced their partnership with Swiftly.com and Trillium Solutions, and the launch of a new transportation tool by Transit Ltd. to assist riders. Beginning on June 15, 2018 passengers will be able to access real time information on all SETD fixed route buses. Utilizing the new “Transit app” and Google maps, riders will be able to access many features including tracking their next bus, access to accurate real time transit information, live maps and bus locations and real time trip planners to help users compare the travel time and price of transportation options. This new access to information is available to anyone with a smart phone, access to the internet or can be accessed by any phone. Simply text or call this phone number (971) 701-2224 enter the appropriate bus stop number (available on the SETD website or at bus stop) and you will be given the next real time arrivals for routes that serve that stop via voice or SMS message. The Real Time feature is available through the free “Transit” application and can be downloaded through Google Play or Apple ITunes store. Executive Director Jeff Hazen said “the District is very excited to bring real time information to our riders. We know it will make traveling on SETD buses much easier and more enjoyable.” SETD Transit Center staff will be available to assist riders with accessing the new service. “Transit” app specialists will be riding the buses on June 14th 15th, 21st and 28th to assist passengers in accessing the new information. Sunset Empire Transportation District Proposed Fare/Pass Changes

Sunset Empire Transportation District is proposing a change in their current fare/pass policy. Executive Director Hazen has proposed that the District go to a flat rate fare and not use the zone based system that is currently in place and he has proposed a complete overhaul of the Bus Pass program which will have two levels of passes, one for standard riders and the other level being a reduced fare pass which would include seniors, people with disabilities, students (both youth and college) and low income households. Hazen said “By having reduced fares that include low income households, we will be mitigating the impact of the new Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) tax on passengers that are in a low income households which complies with the draft rules of the STIF program.” The proposed flat fare will be $1.00 for everyone each time they get on the bus. The proposed Standard Monthly Pass will be lowered to $30 which is a 33% decrease in cost. The proposed Reduced Fare Monthly Pass will be $20, also a 33% reduction. The proposed Daily Pass will be reduced from $5.00 to $3.00. Hazen also said “At the time we institute the new fares and passes we will eliminate monthly pass sales on the buses to allow drivers to better focus on safely driving and cut down on wait times when they sell a pass.” Daily Passes will continue to be sold on the buses and both Daily and Monthly Passes may be purchased at the Astoria Transit Center or at the Seaside Kiosk. The public will have an opportunity to make comment on the proposed Fare/Pass changes at 4 separate Open Houses being held throughout the County: June 18th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Bob Chisholm Community Center, June 18th from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce, June 19th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Astoria Transit Center and from 3:00 to 4:00 pm at the Emerald Heights Community Room. There will also be a Public Hearing held during the June 28, 2018 Board of Commissioners to allow for public comment from the community as well. Seaside StreetCar Starting May 26th
